Security & Privacy
At Bank Parser, we understand that bank statements contain sensitive financial information. Many accountants, bookkeepers, and small business owners ask a simple question before uploading a file:
“What happens to my data?”
This page explains how files are handled, what information is stored, and what we do — and do not do — with your data.
Quick Summary
- Your uploaded files are processed for conversion and automatically deleted after 1 hour.
- We do not permanently store bank statement contents.
- We permanently store only basic technical metadata (such as filename and file hash), not transaction data or document content.
- Files are protected using encryption in transit and at rest.
- Access to systems and stored information is limited to the founder only.
How Files Are Handled
Bank Parser is designed to convert bank statement PDFs into formats such as Excel and QBO for accounting workflows.
The file handling process is straightforward:
- Upload — you upload a bank statement PDF for conversion.
- Processing — the file is processed to generate the requested output format.
- Temporary retention — files remain temporarily available for system operations and downloads.
- Automatic deletion — uploaded files and generated outputs are automatically deleted after 1 hour.
We intentionally limit file retention to reduce exposure and avoid keeping sensitive financial documents longer than necessary.
What We Store Permanently
We do not permanently store bank statement contents.
To support system operation and troubleshooting, we may retain limited technical metadata, including:
- Filename
- File hash (a technical fingerprint of the file)
This information is used for operational purposes and does not include the contents of your bank statements, transaction history, balances, or account details.
Encryption
Data protection includes encryption:
- In transit — information transferred between your browser and our systems is encrypted.
- At rest — stored files are encrypted while temporarily retained for processing.
These measures are intended to reduce unauthorized access risk while files are being handled.
Access Controls
Access to systems and stored information is restricted.
At this time, access is limited to the founder only. We do not provide broad internal access to uploaded customer files.
Payments
Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy.
Bank Parser does not store or process payment card information on our side. Payment details are handled through our payment provider.
What We Don't Do
We believe it is important to be clear about what Bank Parser does not do.
We do not:
- Sell customer financial data
- Share uploaded bank statement contents for advertising purposes
- Use uploaded files for AI training
- Permanently retain bank statement contents after the temporary processing window
Compliance & Security Position
We prefer to be direct rather than overstate claims.
Bank Parser is not currently certified under SOC 2 or similar compliance frameworks. We do not claim certifications we do not have.
We are continuously improving operational security and working toward stronger security practices as the product matures.
